1 and 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
4 Tablespoons melted shortening
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
Beat egg yolks well; add milk and shortening.
Combine salt, sugar, and flour.
Add to first mixture.
Beat until smooth.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Sift baking powder lightly over the mixture and fold in quickly.
Bake in hot waffle iron.
